![]() Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains is a huge alpine lake known for its clarity and depth. Its clarity is primarily due to the fact its fed by countless tiny mountain streams and creeks rather than a large river carrying in silt. However, its gradually loosing clarity as a result of fine sediment produced by development in the area. For now it still looks pristine.
